Emma R.’s Taffy Twinkle Stars
“This is my grandmother’s recipe; in fact our recipe card is written in her handwriting! My mom has made these every Christmas for as long as I can remember, and we always used to leave these out for Santa when I was a kid."

Ingredients
Cookies:
1 cup of butter or margarine
1/2 cup of molasses
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 cups of sifted flour
Icing:
1 cup of powdered sugar
1 tablespoon of water (or more)
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Directions
1. Blend butter with molasses in medium sized bowl; stir in 1 tsp of vanilla.
2. Gradually blend in flour.
3. Chill overnight.
4. Roll out a small amount at a time to 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
5. Cut out with star shaped cutter.
6. Bake in 325º oven for 10 mins or until firm.
7. Cool on a wire rack.
8. To make icing: Blend powdered sugar, water and vanilla until smooth.
9. Ice in any design you want!
